It can have several adverse effects on the birds' health, welfare, and overall production. Some of the negative effects include: Stress and Aggression: Overcrowded conditions can lead to increased stress among broilers which manifests as aggressive behavior, feather pecking, and cannibalism Reduced Growth Rates: Overcrowding hinders the growth rates of broilers. The competition for feed and water results in uneven growth Increased Incidence of Diseases: Close proximity facilitates the spread of diseases. If one bird becomes infected, the risk of the disease spreading to others is higher. Decreased Feed Efficiency: Competition for feed and water can result in uneven access and decreased feed efficiency. This can lead to higher production costs and lower profits for farmers. To address these issues, proper management practices & appropriate stocking densities are essential in broiler farming to the overall success and profitability of the farm. The ideal floor space requirement per broiler chicken is 1-2 sqft &1.5 sqft on average. However, going as high as 2.5 sqft/bird is not bad, especially during the very hot seasons.
